The expression of thought versus the power of influence

Based on the recent events on Facebook, here is the thoughts of the instant:
1. Interestingly enough - the PM has that much power and authority to prevent expression of thought
2. Does anyone in the world care about our PM that much about our fellow constituents?

Despite the rise of power seekers and power enforcers, what else is going on in Mauritius?
Apparently from the visit to the US of the VP of Finance, we found out that there are planning to help Mauritius on the IT side in a couple of ways.
1. Enable IT companies to quickly establish in Mauritius - through less paperwork, decrease taxation and availability of infrastructure
2. Invite skilled trainers/Mauritians established in the US to help
3. Encourage colleges and universities to establish satellites in Mauritius
Sounds good? Here are the challenges:
1. IT companies that do not know about Mauritius are reluctant to come to Mauritius because of the leash that the government has on the business sector
2. Do people really believe that some countries in Africa/Asia are corruption free? Humm, without some of the "du the" (tea), how would the administration move along with the paperwork...
3. The challenge that universities have is the placement, fees, seating, laws and regulations - to name a few.
The bottom line is that Mauritius has an IT gap - meaning there is no qualified/skilled people for incoming IT companies to hire and/or to train. The level of IT or IS comprehension is below average. Is the government responsible for the lack of spread of Internet service providers or computer availability....
Still more unanswered questions.

Le declin

I realize that I am painting a bleak and obscure picture of Mauritius. Even though that I feel disconnected by watching the events from afar, I rely on the media and Mauritian people to make my statements.

Whether my sources are confirmed to be correct, here is another list of Most Extreme Declines:
  • Respect for authorities (Government, Businesses and Schools)
  • Respect of elders and religions
  • Teachers
  • Seats at the University
  • Involvement in the community
  • Love of country - Patriotism and finally
  • Hope for a better future

What can be done?
